so our friend and mentor, verena, had this great idea that we should be able to use a bunch of 1-2″ sticks to make fence posts for deer fencing.  here are the first few in the ground.  i spent an hour pulling various pieces of already fallen wood out of the woods.  i then watched a utube video to see what i could learn about deer fencing.  we are going to wait until we plow up the field to put up fencing, but i am starting to practice and plan now so that when the day comes we have a plan and we are not hunting around for materials.    the plan will be to use twine and staples to secure the deer

netting.  you can see all the posts i collected temporarily holding down the black plastic we have put down to help kill the grass in the places that the plow will not reach.

amber also used the seeder for the first time today to get in a row of parsnips directly seeded into the ground.  hopefully the cold nights is a bit nicer to underground veggies.  we also used a new type of hoop for the floating row cover.  the results can be seen below:
